Anyone have insider info on 5th Anniversery?Follow

#1 Mar 16 2004 at 10:19 AM Rating: Default
Hi there I was wondering if anyone had insider info on the 5th anniversery stuff. Does that begin tonight (tuesday) and if so what time? Will it be like a Holloween type of event where no drop uber loot drops? I remember 2 Holloweens ago where there was a gm event in which all kinds of mobs were dropping pretty decent equipment However it was race/ class specific which is why Im thinking they want us to go to our hometowns. If this the case Im just glad Im a 53 ranger with tracking who can hunt down mobs uber quick. Thoughts on this subject? Also wouldnt it be dangerous to set off fireworks inside Kaladim?

Not to hijack the post but after reading your signature Thunder, all I can say is thank the gods we can't smell in EQ. This is not the first time I have been grateful, nor will it be the last. Smiley: lol

was running through butcherblock with my mage & was passing the wayfarer camp when i got a message saying something about the earth rumbling. then something about an army of skeletons comimg out of the hard earth. i turn around to see what going on & whack you have been hit for 171 points. loading ...
yet another gm event that i'm too low to participate in. Smiley: disappointed have they ever done an event that the lower levels can take part in?

The skeleton armies spawn each night time in BB, and I heard also EC, Steamfont, and QH. The mobs are green to blue at 50 and are basically soloable. They would be very tough for people normally exping in these zones. They drop no-drop loot that has no level requirements and would be suitable and even upgrades for many people pre-50.

The Fabled mobs which have replaced named spawns in old world dungeons are being described as 'BoT named' in difficulty and are dropping no-drop 'Fabled' versions of old world loot - like Fabled FBSS with 36% haste. These Fabled mobs are not soloable...

It is basically a level 65 gank and KS fest that is sure to bring out the worst in people - I haven't been so blatently KSed in years. Hopefully these people will sequester themselves in SolB and LGuk and leave the Skeleton army events to people that can benefit from the loot. With the exception of the Fabled named mobs, this is very reminiscent of the Halloween events of a few years ago.

Hmmm... Which is basically junk if you can take BoT named. But then, if all you've done in your life is buy gear in the bazaar, maybe it's good. I'd be interested in seeing what other stuff may be out there, but not if I've got to fight over/through a zillion idiots who couldn't be bothered to raid the content that's already been in the game for a few years now...

Makes me wonder what zones have the skel armies, and how much of the stuff will end up rotting / going to lowbies. Since I'm a lowbie, it interests me, of course :)

Why yes, I can read the post. See where it says 'and I heard'? That's why I'm checking for confirmation. Right now I've got BB, Qeynos, Feeroot, and EC confirmed from /ooc chat.

Try playing on a PvP server. Vallon Zek was the Mecca for gang rape and 65 PvP today. I've never seen so many people from lvl 65 guilds in Castle Mistmoore in my life!

The scavanger hunt sure took people to zones they had never been in. You have to chuckle when someone asks 'what zone is kerra isle in?'. Except for the Paw drop, I was lucky in getting the other 9 from the first mob I killed. Going in to it, I expected to have to waste hours killing green mobs over and over again. So while I was pleasantly surprised by the ease of the quest, I was a little disappointed in the reward. Perhaps they will give us an upgrade quest that will have it summon halas meat pies and qeynos tea when it procs ;)

Does anyone have more info on the Fabled mobs, especially those outside of Lguk and solB? I am wondering if a group of mid-50s have any chance of attempting some of these.

I was in Oasis last night picking up an old spell when I bumped into the Fabled Lockjaw. Not having heard anything about the Fabled mobs, and with FLJ conning green, I thought "cool, let's see what he drops!". Well, what he ALMOST dropped was a 44 enchanter. Hit hit max for 135 on most occasions, and chewed my new 44 pet up and spit him out like so much scrap metal. Had I not just gotten my Illusion: Scaled Wolf spell I would be a nice high elf-shaped stain in the swirling winds of the desert.

I have soloed the old LJ many times at much lower level with my chanter, so the Fabled guy is definitely MUCH tougher.

That being said, I did land a few Discordant Minds on him (~500 DD) and it dropped him by about 20% health each time. I was kinda LOM at the outset and quite unprepared for his uberness, but I don't think it would have mattered if I had been 100% mana. Yes, my girlish screams echoed over the dunes as I fled for my very life.

I have a sneaking suspicion that I might have better luck with my 44 necro, as long as FLJ doesn't resist too much. I think he would be easily fear-kitable and will probably give it a run tonight. Hopefully those won't be my famous last words...

I hear stories of these mobs being TOUGH. I heard that the ghoul frog in Lower Guk had a hit over 1k damage, flurried, and all the stuff. Nasty. The level seemed to be similar to what the normal mob is, but the toughness has been boosted up quite a bit!

Personally I didn't try any of those yet, apart from Fabled Fippy Darkpaw, whom I kinda ran into. Him being level 4-6 and me being 65 wasn't really a match, so whether he was tougher than normal or not, I didn't really notice and he was down very fast. What I did notice, on him: he is NOT snareable. So be careful, I estimate that many of the other Fabled critters cannot be changed in runspeed, and who knows what else. If you're unlucky they cannot be stunned or even mezzed either.

The best thing to do is to be ready for it (have a bit of a group if the mob is somewhat around your level, or only 10-or-so levels under) and be prepared to run for it if things go bad. These are clearly undercons.

/em rethinks fearkiting plan

Now that you mention it, I did try to root ole Fabled Lockjaw, and I *think* he resisted (even after Tash), but it might have said that he couldn't be effected by the spell. I just glanced down and saw red text and assumed a resist. I only tried it once.

Perhaps my time would be better spent getting my cool new fireworks wand from the scavenger hunt...

Some of these events are surprising to say the least. I was on my way to talk to Llara for part of the Ghoulbane quest, when as i zoned into Dagnor's, I saw a level 65 guy haulin' a$$ outo f there. That's odd I though, nobody is ever in this zone, let alone an almost dead level 65.. YYAAAAAAAA!!!! Just then I noticed some huger dragon/worm thingy flying around the corner after said dying dude. So naturally i took off too and obviously outran someone because i made it out alive. The whole thing kinda reminds me of a severe weather alert, like a tornado warning for all of us midwesterners. You have a bunch of people cowering at the zone lines, some crazy people are running around trying to get a look at whatever monster happens to be terrorizing the place, and even crazier people trying to kill whatever the monster is. "Mable, I'za gonna geta real niiicee picture of that darn tornado so ize can send it in to that weather fella, i just gots to get a little darn closer to get a AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhh!"
Plus I think that those nasty undeads in kithicor are enough, i don't need them running around in ec and other places as well.

The skeletons are also spawning in East Commonlands and possibly West Commonlands. The only thing I saw them drop was bone chips and rusty weapons. They gank like crazy, come out only at night. I was on my level 30 Cleric. The skeletons were blue, light blue and green to me. It wouldn't have been so bad and I could have taken them if they hadn't ganked. Unfortunately, when you have 8 of them on you and some of them cast, it's hard. My poor cleric lost her level from that and she wasn't even there to kill them, she was there to farm some items for my lowbie char.

How long does the anniversary thing last?

I don't have time to play much until Friday night and Saturday. Will it still be going on by then?

Please advise

The dragon in dagnors cauldron is the epic mob for berserkers and not related to the anniversary.

I beg to differ. Last night I met my nemesis, The Fabled Quillmane. A guildmate was in SK and told me he was up. I asked him to grab that mob and keep it until I could get there (I was in PoK). Got my hiney down there as fast as I could. Lo and behold, some troll (who I'm pretty confident was no magician) was trying to yank the mob off my friend as he was running Quillmane to me.

I sent the pet, let loose with a barrage of nukes and it was all over in a few seconds. I did manage to grab aggro off my pet and The Fabled Quillmane was much tougher than the normal version (clocked me for 171), but certainly doable.

The difficulty is in trying to keep the mobs from the KSers.

The Fabled Quillmane finally dropped the cloak I need for my epic and also a spare cloak. I'll send in the stats on the spare cloak when I get home if nobody else has done so yet.

I recently started a cleric on Th. Paells and ran into The Fabled Mooto in Misty Thicket. Conned yellow to him at level 8 and had some pretty nasty dots, but not sure if he is harder than before.

I would like to see some info on the scavenger hunt tho. Some of the clues are pretty cryptic. but sometimes i'm no MOTO.

Yanari is correct - there are easier Fabled mobs ranging from Fippy Darkpaw to the Frenzied Ghoul. I was hearing so much about how the mobs in guk hit for 1K and the Fabled Efreeti hit for 2k that I assumed all Fabled mobs did.

I can also confirm that these zones have skeleton armies each night: Qeynos Hills, Feerott, EC, Steamfont, Butcher from 7pm to 5am. Steamfont seems the least populated. The loot in all these zones is similar if not identical, dropping mostly from the Skeletal Commanders.

I did the EQ Fifth Anniversary Scavenger Hunt quest solo with my lvl 56 Wiz. I had no problems except for some mean skeletons in Tox at night. Just be careful and you should not have any problems.

Received the Solusek Sparkler https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=27188

Goodluck :)

Thats cool that they have a different one for each year of character creation. Empyre was created in early 1999 and I think I have toons spread throughout most of the other 4.

At least they are doing some entertaining things for a change.
