Dual WeildFollow

#1 Mar 16 2004 at 8:04 AM Rating: Decent
Hey guys im a 22 Rogue on Stromm. I really like Dual Weild, my proficiency in it is very high. But I'm not really sure how the thing works with your off-hand weapon. I've heard talk that, "Oh, delay doesn't matter with the offhand, just get something with high damage." Is the delay determined by your Dual Weild skill? Please go into more detail than a simple yes or no. I may not be able to reply right away, as I am about to head off to school.

Thanks,
Zach

I'm a 57 rogue on Tallon Zek so my opinions might be different then you bluebie ***** I carry around different types of weapons in my offhand including a 22/32 weap (i think) also carry around a gomdurig 13/22 for the nice delay/dam + 115 dd proc. It all depends on what you are fighting to tell you the truth...but as far as being lvl 22 just work on getting your primary to max damage with a reasonable delay. Anything in the primary that gets replaced throw it in the offhand, its more then likely your best shot.

btw the offhand weapon won't be as fast as its delay...that delay is determined when your skill allows another dual attack...so as long as your weapon can attack when dual allows it....try to time it or something.

Ok, as a rogue you want higher damage in Primary because that is the hand that your Backstab(BS)is based on. But on that thought dont make the mistake of getting a bad ratio for primary.
Dual Weild: To increase your skill use a fast weapon (low delay) this will get your skill up quicker. When you have your duel weild skill up enough where you are just skilling the few points from the last level, change to a good ratio weapon.

Delay is NOT determined by your dual weild skill.

As I understand ... Primary is based on delay and does check on weapon skill.... Secondary is based on Delay but does a check on dual wield and weapon skill.

What i'm understanding from these posts is that rogues should put the best ratio in main hand and and the secondary weapon should be the fast one? (backwards of a ranger pretty much)Is this true? It seems like it would be because u want to hit with your high damage fast weapon with backstab and u want the secondary weapon to be adding on smaller (but damaging) hits.

Hmmmmmm. A rogue wants exactly the same as a ranger with one addition. A rogue wants a High Damge/Good Ratio/Low Delay weapon in their primary. In secondary use the best ratio'd weapon you can get your hands on. Don't worry about skill-ups with duel wield, they will come anyway.

For you primary you weant the
High Damage = High Backstab
High Ratio = High DPS(just normal swinging of the weapon)
Low Delay = Better utilization of damage bonus.

These factors will carry different weight throughout your life as a rogue. To start, the ratio is really the only thing that is important, but as you enter your 40's and 50's the High damage(backstab) will start to make up for any shortcomings that the weapons ratio, and or higher delay may have.

Later you will also want to get your hands on weapons with backstab modifiers.

Your secondary does a duel wield check at every interval based on the delay of the secondary weapon. I think someone said the percentage is about (Duel Wield Skill)/4. At 22 (115 skill)you should be duel wielding 28.75% percent of the time. This check is done every delay/10 seconds.

I hope that makes things more clear.

I've read dual-wield chances are (skill+level)/500, whereas double attack is (skill+level)/400. Aside from that, what Reinman said is dead on.

Not necessairly... the orignal poster(OP) was talking about how slow his dual weild skill was going up.. I used the recommendation of a Fast off hand weapon to get the skill up. But in the end if the goal is DPS... Off hand should have the best Ratio, and Primary should have the Highest damage, but of course with a decent ratio.

Sorry if I confused the issue.

So a 10 dam/20 delay primary and 12 dam 27 delay secondary would be a ok combo? This is the combo i wanted to use till my ancient goblin dagger and bile covered main-gauche had a little higher damage. If this wont work i also have a 12 dam 24 delay 1hs wep from the GM event with all kinds of stats and a proc. Its pretty nice.

Ummmm, have you got a rogue now Herk? I thought you had a ranger. Anyway, what level is your rogue? Judging from those weapons, I think you should go farm and get some nicer weapons. Lots of nice stuff out there.

yeah i have like WAAAAAAYYYYYY too many alts and i do it because whenever i hit a hell level i create a new one to take some pressure off leveling my ranger. My rogue is only 15 and he has much better weps they just got recommended levels which will make the weps suck till about 35-40. I was gonna use the combo i got (i know it isnt great) until i hit 30 and then i would use my

Bile Drenched Main-gauche

I would go with the 12/24 1hs weapon... you will get better DPS.

the reason i havent used the 1hs is because it has a proc which works at level 1 and pulls aggro and lots of it and my 1hs is like 0. I neglected to raise it cuz i'm stupid. In the words of my hero "I'm rick james *****

#1) No,shadowknights cannot dual weild. Never will be able to unless they give up their plate wearing abilites which they WON'T!
#2) No,we will not PL you because A) most people here play on the PC and B) PLing is stupid and people should level on their own.
