I have never bothered to go /anon with my 46 shammy - though sometimes I think I should
I enjoy buffing newer players - it makes me feel useful to give players a little boost - usually in the form of Chloroplast or some type of dex buff.
however I have noticed a strange increase in the number of people who have been sending me tells for
1. HoS (which is funny, since I don't get it till 49)
2. Potions of Sow (also funny - they tend to get mad when I say it will cost 85 pp for a 10 dose).
3. Powerleveling
Now the last one gets me the most, mainly because they offer me piddly change for the powerleveling. One person offered me 10pp a level. Do they realize in the time it would take me to PL them I could make that much off two or three giants and get some XP as well.
Up until the Nerf, I loved to get asked that while I was in abysmal. My response usually was "can you outdo what I'm making here"

I'm a wizard. This is my first toon and I've only been playing a few months so I don't have a lot of experience.
I've never turned down a port request. Nobody but a guild friend has ever asked me to travel to them. They always come to me except in PoK I sometimes just ask them where they are and I go there. The cost of portal fragments is about 1PP and every magus at every ldon camp sells them so they are cheap and easy to get.
I don't ask for donations. Sometimes I get them, sometimes I don't. Sometimes they are very generous. (I consider 50PP for a port that costs me 1PP to be pretty darn generous.)
If they want to go to PoH I ask them to supply the soulstone and then I put on my reagent conservation item and I try to conserve it. So far I've never managed to conserve one. Oh well.
There may be reasons why people go Anon or Roleplay but I think it would be nicer if nobody ever did. I never do. Yeah, maybe if they weren't Anon and I knew what class and level they were I might ask them a question or something but I don't think that's so bad.

It usually takes all of 1 minute for me to get a tell requesting summoned pet gear if I'm not anon. If I do go anon tells flood in for kei, ports or pet gear so you can probably guess that I rarely go anon. Most of the time I'll make the people something if:
1. I'm not busy right at that moment.
2. I have mana to spare.
3. they come to me; in a timely manner.
4. are polite. ie, Would you be willing to make me a set or two of pet gear? Something like "<so and so tells you> pet gear kkthxla com 2 bnk" will get ignored.

demands for temprance. free no less. i am known for random temping on the fly, but to tell me that i am a lousy cleric because i won't temp you on demand? dots cost money dots cost money -- what, because i am higher level i have an endless supply of plat? beggar frequently has more plat than me & better gear to boot!
oh, and rezzing. "i need a rez - i (lvl 11 overly twinked dumbass) got killed in lfay (no kidding?). u can rez me? no...sorry i am in the middle of something...then the "requester" gets pissy and hateful. pfft. /ignore dead twinkie

I never respond to tells from people I don't know, unless they are specific and asking me to allow them to give me lots of plat. That never happens so I never respond to tells from people I don't know.
Another fun thing to do is say you are a druid who only solos, so you never bought the group gate spells.. AHAHA. Or say you turned in the POD book on purpose so you can't cast on blue people.
My final favorite thing to do was just say,
"No."
then nothing else. The reaction you get from some people is hilarious, like saying "no" when they ask you for stuff out of the blue is rude. Try it in real life too, next time someone asks you to contribute to their charity or crackpot religion.. "No."
I got once a tell to my cleric at 17th from a female ogre in the GFay zone entrance to CB to heal her - she offered me 100plat!!!!
I told her not to be ridiculous and she asked me if 100plat was not enough!!
She was on 17% and looked miserable so I healed her for 85 points (which I shouldn't have done as I was already in a group and we where about to enter CB) which brought her to 28% only - the perfect mana sink!
Of course I refused the 100plat and as I got suspicious why a 11th lvl ogre can throw away 100p for healing and she did not stop offering me even more ridiculous sums I had to put her on my ignore list.
Still the only one so far and i don't need to play anon - but my cleric hasn't got a nice rezz by now of course ;-)

i always try to turn it to my advantage, if people want to beg they deserve punishment, and i can have fun while i do it, my favorites are nonsencesical gibberings such as "well yes my buffs are not as discreet as the previous 5 to which i have been apposed lately" or words to that effect

And I too have noticed the recent spate of "anybody cast temp on me for free?". I'm not even a cleric and these /oocs offend me! Come on people, stop asking strangers to give you their money. If you can't afford the buff, learn to play your toon without it until you can.
Of course it's doubtful those players are here checking the forums for my sage advice. heh heh

My 55 cleric is always getting tells for a group (usually Ldon which I dont have on that account), rez or Temp.
I don't have the temp spell yet as I've just never gotten around to doing the quest. Yet everyone assumes I have it and ask for it. I try to offer other buffs instead which they are usually grateful for.
For some reason the maps wont work on that account so its really hard for me to get around if someone begs for help. If I'm feeling generous when someone asks me for a rez I'll ask them to come to me and lead me to their body because chances are my map wont work where they are and I'm unfamiliar with the area.
Another thing that bothers me is if I'm AFK and someone buffs me, they get bi-chy when I don't say thank you. Well, maybe because I wasnt there? Duh

there really are some annoying people out there, although in my experience the most annoying thing is going afk whithout typing /afk so i spend 5 mins waiting for a reply and then get "im back"

I guess i am totally opposite from everyone else. I am a 65 Cleric and love the /tells. I do mostly raids at night but during the other times i am in POK and welcome the tells for REZ/TEMP/VIRTUE. Gives me something to do between raids. I never charge for my help (did in the past) if some one needs a rez i am off rez/heal/temp then Gate back to POK.
