Question regarding item links in hotkeysFollow

I'm interested in learning how to include item links in social hotkeys. I've tried to set up a hotkey so that I can use it to /auction Selling item XXX, but it won't allow me to insert the item link into the hotkey editor.

I read in an RPGExpert article (which I can't seem to locate again) that I need the item code, which could be obtained from the eqlog file if the item link was spoken into a chat channel. I tried this the /say channel but when I checked my log the item name appeared as plain text just as it does when viewed from chat window in EQ (i.e. no code apparent).

On a similar note, I have also heard that there might be a way to provide a link to one's spells in similar fashion, such that one could tell the group /gsay Casting Slow on %t and group members could click on "Slow" to learn the details of the spell. Has anyone heard of/seen/done this, and if so does it simply involve linking the scroll from which the particular spell is scribed?

If anyone has any advice on the matter, or can point out what I am doing wrong, I would appreciate any help I can get. I'm not very savvy with the chat channels that require you to /join them so if the solution involves those channels please keep in mind that I know nothing about them.

to link an item type /ooc selling

Then right click on the item and hold this should bring up the box listing the stats ect move the cursor over the item while holding the button down wait a couple of seconds and release, this should leave the box there.

right click the image in the box and it should but the link onto the text line, click on the text line and press return.

Hmmm having read the post again i don't think thats what VW was asking but i will leave it incase it helps some one, in answer to VW i have never found a way to link into a hotkey since you may no always have the item on you so see no solution sorry.

Indeed, I am trying to find out how to include the item link in a social hotkey. That way if I have an item that I /auction regularly, I would like to hit a hotkey that does the auction for me (and includes the clickable link), rather than having to retype the /auction every time I want to sell it (although I know that, once typed, I can shift+enter to bring it back up).

You cant at this time put the link in a hot key and have it stay active. The folks you see repeating their wares dont have it hotkeyed. They are using the command that repeats your speech. (Dont really know what it is but iirc its shift enter)

yes you can. type ;tell linkhere to get the code. you have to put a box around it -- just cut and paste it from TSW or rpgexpert. I macro links all the time.

hmm ive never done this myself but i guess it means you have to link the item into a channel to get the code. gsay, say, ooc and shout etc probably arent the type of channel they are talking about but rather a channel that you need to join, /join linktest channel for instance. try doing it that way.

channels can be created by anyone, so just type /join <channel> without the inverted brackets and with a name of you choice like this

/join linktest

as an example.
then to talk into that channel you use /1 to say stuff (as apposed to /say), if you are in more than one channel you can use /2 /3 etc depending on which channel you want to talk into and which channel you joined first.

hope this helps

no, that doesn't work. ;tell linkhere works. most other methods have been nerfed.

As Dag above said, Hit "Shift + Uparrow" to scroll through text you have said. Select what you want to repeat and hit enter. It's as close to a hot-key as you might need and very easy.

Thanks, czaemon. I got the ;tell linkhere method to give me the code, and I just need to play around with the formatting to get it to work as a hotkey. Those little boxes before and after are kinda tricky.
