Hello, I am a true newb and just got into EQ by my cousin who is a 65 pali. I am concerned taht I got into EQ too late. I feel left behind in exp and AAs and feel by the time i am 65 and want to go to the Plane of Time who else will want to go with me? By then there will be another expansion or 2 and not including GoD and LdoN. I jsut dont know what to do. Stay on EQ and deal with it or try to start out on EQ2, any suggestions?
I mean I will be doing quests with no groups or anything.

An interesting and fair question, though my advice is not to worry!
It is true that servers go through a "life cycle". On a new server, there are many folk at your level, that is true. However...
* there are no high level characters to buff and lend a hand
* there are lots of people chasing YOUR spiderling
* there are NO nice items from high zones for sale in the bazaar
* there are NO grand master jewellors or bakers etc around to help with a tricky combine.
* there may or may not be others on who can advise you on quests or class questions.
* there will not be a choice of guilds (raiding, family, single purpose etc).

So really, mature servers are better in many ways.

You WILL meet other new players. However, you often be grouped with "alts"... characters owned by higher level players. They will be at your level, but may have better gear. They will likely also know what they are doing. You can be depressed by this, or USE IT. Learn from them, and level up with them.

My main is now a lvl 56, and I have enjoyed bringig him up over the last year or so... it is hard to explain how VAST and OPEN everquest is.. you will appreciate the many tips and suggestions from more experienced players.

By the time you're at those levels Tin, you'll most likely be in a guild. Choose a good guild and you'll almost always have groups to run with. When you meet someone you get along with, add them to your friends list. Keep track of the friends you make and level with now...group with them often, as you level so do they and soon you'll have a nice list of friends to search out and group with.

Yes there are alot of people that are level 65 with 100+ AA's, but as Tre said most of those people have twinks that they play as well. Be friendly and if you meet up with someone your level who says they have a high level pally...don't be afraid to ask questions.

I agree with trebarr. There are always new players starting the game. And the information on an old server is invaluable. There are always players in most of the zones, and if you just go to a zone and do a shout about wanting in a group, then usually there is one who needs you. Don't give up on EQ now. And if you still feel the same way when EQ II comes out, then by all means try out that one too....Because I intend to....And there are always higher level players, no matter how new the game is, mainly because of BETA. The beta players will be there to help in a new game version. I play on the Povar server and would be happy to help you if you need it. My toon is Airogant Onetwo, Leafwindx, Tournado, and I have a couple of others. Leafwindx is my lvl 55 druid. Airogant is my lvl 52 monk, and Tournado is my newest at lvl 30, she is a berserker....Come see me on POVAR.

I personally don't think you started too late. I mean I meet people every day that just started. Yes there are people with a billion AA's and have been lvl 60/65 forever. To me it's a good thing...they are the ones I go to with questions. Hell at 65 with 3 years playing time, I'm pretty much a noob, when it comes to facts. I was more concerned with getting my lvl when I first started rather than enjoying the game. If you put in good hard play time, you could have a high lvl before EQ 2 truely gets on it's feet. As far as expansions go, I wouldn't be too worried about it, yes they will come, and some zones become empty, but that just means there are new better zones to go to. hehe.
