Druid at 24 needs adviceFollow

#1 Mar 03 2004 at 5:32 AM Rating: Decent
Hi all friends,

I'm a newbie player and i need some advice.

I'm playing a wood elf druid at level 24. I really like to group and I'm looking for a place where I can go at my level. I don't have LDON.
Do you know any good quest?
Any other hint for a poor newbie?

See you all...

If you're tired of PC I'd say head to the highkeep basement, at your level you make a decent healer or nuker...the good thing about your class is you can actually solo till you find a group.

Marus Seru, South Karana gnolls, Frontier Mountains, Lake of Ill Omen, Oasis of Marr... for groups and/or soloing - pick one. Smiley: smile

When ya hit 30 move to The Overthere and Dawnshroud Peaks. At 40 move to Dreadlands. At high 40s move to Jaggedpine and solo until low 50s (a druid's dream zone - just dont kill anything with fur). Mid 50s and up, well so much to pick from so get crazy.

I think you should go to Highkeep, until your low 30's (35 as a max), then head to Ykesha, do the beach at Gunthak and when things start going Light blue on you there , move over to Dulak. I have been in Ykesha for the last 7 levels and it is excellent loot and XP. It is really easy to get single pulls around here. The only drawback is that it is a long CR, but by then you will be able to port direct to Gunthak anyway(I think). These are not really grouping areas, but being a druid if you could pick up one other person in POK to duo with, you can port them and you there, and you will have a great time. The XP in Ykesha is definately better than the Overthere and Dreadlands, and the loot is no comparison at all (Probably make 5 X the money as compared to OT and DL).

so you like being a bard. well if we all follow your advice then eq would have nothing but bards in it.

a long time ago i used to play a druid and if i remember correctly at your level i was hunting in the karanas.
just keep your eyes open for grimfeather.

Try HighKeep Basement, Sol A and Unrest, and LDoN until 34. Then learn how to quad in Iceclad, it's a very important skill for a druid. http://www.rpgexpert.com/992.html

Bards are the single most difficult class in EQ to play and should NEVER be the first class played. You need far to much knowlage of playstyles to be an effective bard as a first charicter.

Back to the original post, you could try 3 zones that are very good at your level.

Highhold keep basement which will get you to 34 very fast but you may bumb into some Idiots in there as it is on the 'EQ level Highway' but you could be lucky and get a great group of people and learn alot it's really hit and miss.

Nebithian Liar his is a fun fun place and has a high number of higher level people running through and easy escape routes

Splitpaw Pre luclin this was the place everyone went to and it is a very good hunting zone both inside and outside on the 'Claws'.

lol - was just a joke all. funny thing is that my main is a 65 druid with 280 aa's (ya - i've enjoyed some time playing that char). i will say that my 56 bard is a bit more fun for me to play now though. they ability to mezz, charm, mellee, slow, haste, kite, etc makes bards by FAR the most versitile class (and imo the most fun) in EQ. there's also not near as many bards floating around. may be easier to get a group that way. everyone and their brother playes a druid. -)

the above advice is very good. as a druid though, take your time and explore. the ability to sow yourself and then gate out if things get hairy lets you expererience everywhere. i think DSP is your best xp for the next 10 lvl's imho.

GOOD LUCK!

I have checked DSP bestiary and I think it is too high lvl for me. Is there a spot for my lvl there? (lvl24 druid)

Gargamelot, for hunting in DSP there is a wide range of levels..
If you look at the map of DSP: http://www.eqatlas.com/luclin/dawnshroudpeaksmap.html

The zone gets harder going from left to right... so at your level you should be hunting on the West side of the zone near the Sanctus Seru Zone. at that point you will be fighting Lightcrawlers, and small zelnaks.. FYI, Lightcrawlers can blind you on occasion when you are fighting (melee) with them. Root rot or kite em around is the best bet.

Good hunting

"they ability to mezz, charm, mellee, slow, haste, kite, etc"

Druids can nuke, port, heal, damage shield, lull, quad kite, charm kite, fear kite, pet kite, root rot, buff, debuff, haste pets and join AE groups.

Bards and Druids are probably the two most versitile classes. I've played both. Too bad Bards and Druids seem to have the most idiots playing them. :( (That wasn't directed towards you)

well said! boy those aoe groups are fun. mines in ssra as well as the coirnav event in PoW come to mind. nothing like scrolling up and seeing 5-10 of your own crits mixed amoungst your other nukes. of course - sometimes i'm doing the scrolling from my bind point - but - fun none the less!

again - i don't want to talk you out of playing your druid garg. my personal experience is that druids and bards ability to solo is fairly equal. where bards shine above druids is in groups (especially before level 58 when you will get your CH). i'm sure many of you will disagree with me. it all comes down to what you enjoy and your play style. i just love the ability to go from puller to slower to MA to CC and back again. all depending on the group makeup and unexpected circumstances. bards aren't the best at anything - but they have their hands in more cookie jars than other classes (hehe - yup - sounds a lot like druids, i know).

and not to totally derail this thread - i started grouping my druid near the NL entrance at about your level. as you progress in lvl's just seek out the more difficult mobs. you will eventually move to camping at the other zone entrances in DSP (very nice to have a zone out close if things go bad!). there is a cave which you can get xp at up to mid 40's at least (maybe as high as 50 - i forget). then - at lvl 50 or so - head to Umbral Plains and you will be able get some Elysian armor. fun place to duo/group with other druids doing the same thing. but - i'm getting ahead of myself! with all the expansions out there now - make sure you explore as many as you can. regardless of your class - exploring is always fun!
