until recently i didnt realize that the components for some spells could cost as much as they do

i have mostly played a druid and a ranger so i have had to use fire beetle eyes, bat wings, and fish scales

i had no idea that clerics used peridots that cost 11 pp and others like it

my question is this does anyone know of a place that shows what all reagents are used in game?

or could you tell me what ones i should carry if i want to donate them for buffs? id prefer to offer up the gem or whatever than to pay in most cases especially in groups

any help would be great i am at work and dont get a lot of puter time all at once to do research

I have never seen a comprehensive list.

The key ones are the gems used by clerics, enchanters and mages.

Necros need bonechips for their pets, as do SK's but of course they can be accumulated with ease.

For a cleric the first line of spells to use a reagent is the Sybol line beginning with a cast's eye agate, then at 24 a bloodstone and at 34 a Jasper. I don't think anyone worries too much about these early ones as the cost is not that great.

However at 44 the Symbol of Naltron requires a Peridot. Temperance is a combination spell, replacing Symbol of Naltron, Shield of Words and Resolution and consumes the same peridot as Symbol.

Deathpact consumes a Pearl.
Symbol of Marzin consumes a Peridot
Naltrons Mark consumes one Peridot but buffs all six members of a group
Aegolism consumes a Peridot.
Blessing of Aegolism consumes 4 Peridots.
Divine Intervention consumes 2 Emeralds.
Marzin's Mark consumes 3 Peridots.
Symbol of Kazad consumes a Peridot.
Virtue consumes a Peridot.
Kazad's Mark consumes 2 Peridots.
Hand of Virtue consumes 2 Peridots.

The Mage Druid spell Banishment consumes a Star Ruby.
(The only time I ever saw it used, it was resisted Smiley: mad)

Mages, like Enchanters need reagents to cast their pets.

Enchanters use Tiny Daggers which are cheap. Mages a Malachite which is also very cheap.

Mages Call of Hero consumes a Pearl

Enchanters get a series of spells called Runes, these make a player immune to a certain amount of damage. ie Rune 1 absorbs up to 55 points of damage before it fades.

Rune1 consumes a Cat's Eye Agate
Rune2 consumes a Bloodstone
Rune3 consumes a Jasper
Rune4 consumes a Peridot
Rune5 consumes a Peridot (absorbs up to 700 dmage).

Enchanters also have a spell damage absorption rune;
Guard of Alendar consumes a Jasper
Protection of Alendar consumes a Peridot
Bulwark of Alendar consumes a Peridot

Wizard teleport to Plane of Sky Stone of Veeshan
Wizard teleport to Plane of Hate Stone of Innoruuk

Wizards have some other spells that consume reagents, I'm not familiar with these though, maybe a Wizzy can tell us what they are.

Necro's consume coffins to summons corpses amd consume an Essence Emerald for a resurection.

This doesn't include the myriad of reagents required for tradeskill type spells. For example in the case of a Chanter and Mass purify Mana spells the costs become enormous, 20 Rubies per cast, lol.

Also most of the LDoN remove trap type spells require a special reagent - Skryer's Stone.

There are probably others that I don't know about.

PS...

The issue for Clerics is partly emotional and partly basic costs that can be a huge burden.

A lot of the time the costs would be borne chearfully if people were just plain courteous.

But the amount of times I have had some melee or caster type (not MA) say "I need symbol Cleric" or in a few recent cases, just "symbol Cleric" and repeated when I appear not to be moving fast enough.

It is also very irritating to have people who shouldn't be planning on getting hit demanding Temperance and without so much as a please or thankyou. Try demanding Rune from the Enchanter.

But there is a real cost issue as well.

If a Cleric does cast Symbol or Temp on each group member it is a cost of 66 PP. Do say three LDoN's in a session and the Cleric has spent 198 PP. Unless the Chanter has cast Rune, no one else will have spent a single copper. Does this seem fair?

I have been in many a typical "rolling" group in places like PoJ and PoI where over a period of a few hours you get tanks and pullers coming and going and the occasional death of the MA or puller. In the course of one of these, even if the Cleric does not Temp or Symbol casters (and most of the time I do not Temp myself either) you can still wind up having cast it 10 or 12 times. Meanwhile you get almost zero chance to loot and on the rare occasion a mob drops in your lap you find your self looting a message in a bottle or a valor crystal or something equally useful.

Frankly I will no longer join these types of groups in these places, it is a lot of plain hard work for less than zero return.

As a Druid I never ask for Cleric buffs, I have my own specialist buffs that suit me better. As a Ranger I appreciate the extra AC and HP, but I am just as content to have the AC buff and Shaman HoS I really don't need Temp or Virtue. Again I never ask for it.

In reallity the only people in a group that actually "need" Temp or Aego/Virtue are the MA and Puller, (except in situations where buff slots are important, which really is only in raid type situations).

Necro pets at higher lvls and their shields also require Dots. Cats eyes, jaspers, and pearls are used in lower level necro shields. And of course, emeralds for EE's or buying EE's in the bazaar can add up fast.
