help would abe appreciated, felt like a dumba** yesterday doing the LDoN, as my machine froze a few times... and i wasn't able to hit the /assist hotbutton in time...(after using F2 to F6 keys to select person which I intend to assist )

ah yes, am pally, human, lvl 25.

what is your layout, screen-wise? anything important?

I currently do use:
1 - hotkeys (most important those two here: /gsay inc %T and /assist)
2 - have 3 chatwindows.
a: for main, switched off miss messages, now only dmg. msg. will be displayed.
b: guild and tells
c: group and say
3 - autoattack is "Q"
4 - spells I cast hitting 1 to 6 on keyboard (not Num)

Questions now:
Q1: any way of making a hotkey, so that I only hit e.g. F3 and then press some key (8 may be?), and the person will be assisted?
Q2: general, how to make hotkeys, macros? I know about /doability, /cast. any other things you have to keep in mind?
Q3: how do I chaincast spells (i.e. my heals)
Q4: any suggestions on setup screen/existing hotkeys?

I wouldn't even mind if somebody sends/posts screenshots.

thank you very much in advance Smiley: smile (hope I made myself clear on what i need to know)

Here is an SS of my UI.

Emp kill

This is an SS from an EMP kill.

I arrange my boxes so I receive all chat/guild and tells in the top left box. All rsay/group to the bottom large chat window.

The three smaller boxes to the left contain in order .. my hits, me being hit + spam + crits, others hits.

I have been told to use a different UI from the basic but I like it, it is simple and functional and most custom UI's I have seen look too themy for me Smiley: smile

Basicallly I have arranged my ui so I willo not miss raid instructions and not miss tells or guild/chat. All my control buttons are on the right side so my mouse is not jumping all over the screen.
What you need to have is a style of UI you are comfortable with and that can provide you with function.
Regarding hotkeys. I have 3 pages of hotkeys. I switch between them depending on current 'ranger mode' I need to be in Smiley: smile

thank you for the screenshot, much appreciated. will set them chat windows to fade like you did. Smiley: smile

one thing though, my graphics card is rather outdated..I can only run in 1028*768 resolution. have to get a new one, but that won't happen before EQ2 comes out...;)
