Spectres in Feerrot for the Druid

Good spot, decent loot, and almost never camped - unlike giants everywhere.

Frost Giants in The Great Divide aren't as rich as most giants but the Velium weapons sell to players for about 20pp and to NPC merchants for about 10pp. I soloed the Ice Giants in Everfrost from level 39. Hard to get one of these though there are so many high level players who want all three of these for the plat and don't get any xp from them. I usually camp the back one and kite him, then regen until he pops again...rinse...redo...

Dwarves in Butcherblock. If you have any skill quad kiting, these are a breeze, and they make you boat loads of exp and money. I was pulling down a blue or more every quad with these guys, not to mention an average of 20pp or more per quad.

A good place to try it out is at the BB docks. Grab the two dwarves at the end of the docks, then there are two dwarves in the houses on the left. (if you're facing the ocean) If you just grab those, the other dwarves wont aggro, and even though my faction with (I think) Kaladim Citizens can't go any lower, I can still enter Kaladim just fine, use merchants, bank, etc. I'm told there are one or two dwarves in Kaladim that will aggro if you do this, but I've yet to find them.

OK, now I am gonna ask a newb question, even though my druid is now lvl 41. Ready for this?

How do you quad kite? I have never done any kiting with my druid, and just realized that I should know how! Smiley: yikes

I had to learn quadding myself so here how I do it. It may be different from others. The spells you need are two: Ensnare and Lightning line of spell. In your case at level 41, it's level 39 spell, Lightning Strike. It does max area damage for 184 points and uses 149 mana. Two things. Make sure you get mana regen buff on you. You will need it specially at that level. You will need a large outdoor area with plenty of room to move around and very few aggro mobs around. Get yourself in to a wolf form for more speed. First, go snare a mob. Keep moving so you don't get hit. Go snare another mob as your first mob nears it. Do this until you have 4 mobs snared. If you keep running around, you will eventually get all 4 mobs together. It's important you do this. Then you start casting Lightning Strike. Then you run away far enough so you can sit down to med a bit while they come after you. When they get in range, start casting Lightning Strike again. Keep doing this until the mobs are dead. Not all mobs die at the same time. You may have to nuke one to finish off ones still alive. By this time, snare would have them standing still so it's an easy kill. Sit down to med up to full mana then try again.

The reason for the quadding is that the Lightning spell only effects 4 mobs in the area at a time. It takes a bit of practice and few deaths to perfect the technique.

Good luck.

Basically that's it but two little points. Once you get the 4 mobs snared run round them. ie circle them. This ties them into a tight group. I usually quad in a triangular or square pattern and cast each time it refreshes. I would not sit and med while they catch up unless I ran out of mana. Finish the quad then med. You soon get a feel for when to cast. An extended range item like a moonstone ring is useful for giving you more casting time.

Try and get similar mobs in the quad. that way they go down at the same rate (barring resists) and you don't waste mana killing stragglers. Also the same mobs will keep runnning together even below the low health point where alone they would just stand still. Different types of mob will drop out of the quad as their health reaches that point.

I did a lot of quadding at your level in Eastern Wastes on Ulthorks. A quad of 4 ulthorks stays together very well, mix in a rhino and they drop off on low health. I used to finish them off with dot rather than nuke and then I could start medding while they died.

Spirit of Cheetah is your friend quadding. It has a half-second cast and nothing can match it for speed. Far faster than casting Lesser Succor if you get adds or run oom.

The other thing is don't quad on a bad connection. if you are prone to LD you will die a lot.

As a personal preference I prefer SoW to Wolf Form. You can see better standing up and also be seen better. It is bad enough having some well-meaning nitwit "rescue" you from the 4 mobs that were chasing you. If you are not immediately visible and recognisable they will just step in and steal it. I do however use tree form (Spirit of Ash) for meditating.

Oh and on the exp spots

Druid EW, GD (get your coldain shawls started with toes and heads), WL, DL

Ranger
Everfrost mammoths. Stay away from the wayfarer camp if poss and use your tracking to get the outlying ones. Fear-kite. Tusks 10pp each to Magus vendor.

Well I soloed my mage in Blackburrow at that level. You could also do the shadeweaver end of paludal if you can stand it. You could also do Crushbone or Butcherblock if you wanted.

The necro could do that part of PC but would get hammered by guards in GFay unless you are very careful. There are also wandering NPCs who dislike necros. At that level my DE necro was still in Nektulos.

I am not sure if you can solo effectively there currently, mostly due to your mana pool, spell and gear, but I liked Acrylia Cavern at the lava room doing skellies. They give great xp, not much of loot. A great place for Necros. I have had level 60 Necro own that place soloing. However, at around 60 some will start going light blue so 53 may be just at the beginning of good xp there. If you don't feel comfortable, bring a partner (Pally or Cleric0, the xp is great there.
