I love my warrior =). Warriors can be a lot of fun, because they are very group dependent. So you will meet lots of people, and your warrior will develop a personality of his or her own. (Or maybe I have multiple personality disorder and it's only coming out through EQ =P ) However, there are a couple things to keep in mind:
1. Warriors CANNOT solo at higher levels (ie, past 10 or so). They are made for taking damage, not dealing damage, and there is little gear that will enable them to slow, snare, dot, root, or anything else that can make soloing easier.
2. Warriors are VERY gear dependent. A naked warrior might still be able to takes hits as well as, if not better than, say, a fuller geared rogue...but probably can't hold aggro enough to GET hit. Expect to be constantly looking for upgrades to your gear as you level.
3. A warrior is very easy to play, but hard to play well. Tanking (and 99% of the time, that's what you're doing..rarely does someone say hey, we need more DPS, let's get another warrior) means knowing when to taunt, when to bash or kick or slam to stun caster mobs, positioning mobs so the mages have line of sight for their spells and the rogues can get behind the mob so they can backstab and making sure the mob isn't half buried in the wall so that rangers can shoot arrows and wizzies can nuke and oh yeah, gotta make sure the mob is positioned so that the beastlord's pet doesn't push the mob into the 5 other bad guys just out of aggro range. You need to know where all your casters are so that when you lose aggro (which you will) you can get to them and get the mob off of them before they die. You need to know how to break mezz without the mob immediately going after the enchanter. You need to know that when a mob is rooted it attacks the closest person, so if the rogue is right up against the mob you need to be cheek-to-cheek with it. And you need to have a sense of humor because yes, you will die. And yes your casters will die, and they'll blame it on your aggro even when they were nuking at 100%.
So...if you're looking for a character to just fool around solo with while your friends catch up, warrior probably isn't the right choice...maybe necro or beastlord would be better. But if you enjoy the group aspect of the game and want to keep that with an alt, go ahead and try a warrior.
