Lots of it.

More specifically, I think Newbie zone until you stop leveling there, then Kurn's tower, and on to paludal should be pretty quick.

Here's my general progression.

Field of Bone

Kurn's Tower

Paludal Caverns

High Hold Keep

Mines In Thurgadin

That can get you to 40 in no time flat.

Thanks Soze at least your answer doesn't consist of only kill stuff. or alot of it.

As tempted as I am to join in on the fun, I'm gonna give a "serious" answer.

If I recall correctly, the things in the newbie zones should start turning green around 5 or 6. One thing I left out of my last post was that at this point I would advise going to Blackburrow.

After Blackburrow, head to Kurns Tower in the Field of Bone. You should be able to get to 16-17 there, maybe higher.

Once you're done there you should go to Paludal Caverns on Luclin. You should be able to get a group killing Recondites at 18 or so, depending upon your class. You can go all the way up to 26-27 on them quickly.

After that, LDoN is great XP. Also, I enjoyed hunting Sarnaks in Lake of Ill Omen. I think at some point in the high 20's I was hunting Mountain Giants in Frontier Mountains.

Not saying this is the most fun, but it's certainly a quick way to level. Hope this helps.

Safe Hunting,
Nat

The reason for the flippant answer is that it is the wrong question.

You already told us you have your levelling worked out to level 37. The thread was entitled "What to do after HHK" or the like. Since you already know what to do why ask? Isn't your route working?

There are lots of things you need to know about on this your first character. Zipping to 37 (and HHK is useless at 37 unless you're killing guards) doesn't give you anything.

My personal route would be possibly the Newbie zone to 5 then Paludal if you want to level fast. After Paludal LDoN is probably better than the available zones for exp and loot. You might even learn something and make some friends too.

Levelling fast is something to do when you know what you are doing. I was playing my 16 Paladin last night and having a blast. Really, really close fights, decent loot and a boss mob with adds that took everything we had to keep standing. the lessons of handling this are so much easier learnt then.

If my 50's or 60's chars get into such things it is usually decided one way or the other very fast. Mobs at those levels don't give second chances.

So the answer is to "kill stuff" but to do it in a way and place and with people that make it fun. Don't chase levels hoping "it'll all be fun when I get there" - enjoy the journey.

With Moe I went GFay, Crushbone, PC, Netherbian Lair, DSP, then LDoN. Toss in a couple of other zones to break the monotony, head to the planes in your high 40s (I have been doing Justice and Innovation) and when I ding 55, I am going to join my guild in Valor and other planes flagging, etc. Of course, my route has taken me roughly 10 months so far to get to 53, so... :)

Get a 65 shaman, 65 enchanter and 65 mage or necro to power level you. Wouldn't be too tough to get from 1 to 65 in under 30 hours.

Anybody here remember the first froglok to 65? That was with a necro only pl'ing. Imagine the speed if you tossed in a shaman and/or enchanter into the pl session.

what happens at level 65?

Threads like that give me the feeling that either at 65 some MARVELOUSWONDERFULASTOUNDINGINCREDIBLE game options open....or EQ is just a big pile of **** below 65.

...but then most people here played this uninterestingly dumb ****** levels for 1 or 2 years....

At 65 Eq really open up for some people groups come easier and progression is faster because AA's come fast and furious, but it's not the be all and end all of the game.

I am taking my time to 65 because i don't want to rush, Jarkeld has never been PL'd and i think i am a better pally because of it.

that being said 65 is by no means the 'END' of the game thats for sure. The tier 3+ zones are a real test of your skills since when you ***** up you die.

65 is not the be-all and end-all of the game... 65 with 300+AA is a little closer to the end of the game. Everyone wants to get to the end, so powerleveling straight to 65 is the only priority. Once you get to 65 is when you look around, say "what class am I playing again? *fizzle fizzle* " and realize that you've just limited yourself to 3-4 zones worth playing in.

OK, maybe that's a somewhat cynical and jaded point of view. Me, I prefer to hunt in many differing interesting zones, not necessarily 60 and higher. Which is why I had to start a necro and solo everywhere, since nobody goes to, say, Sebilis anymore (except Yantis farmers).

The faster these idiots get to 65 and realise that they have no clue as to what Everquest is about and leave the game the better!

Don't think of me as naiv please but beginning from the newbie zone if you ***** up you die.

die in the sense of no-matter-what level-you-are charkter drops to the ground with 0 HP.

Or is death so much more horrible at the tier 3+ zones? I always had the impression while people do corpse runs at lower levels once you start doing raid stuff you have to get organized and a rez is already considered and will be provided instantly in guilds?

Yes Leiany, this is a very strange thing to say. I can only suppose Tarv was trying to say something other than what he wrote.

Dieing in a tier 3 zone is precisely the same as a level one newbie zone, you HP drop to zero and you fall to the ground Smiley: smile. Of course you do not instantly pop back to life with all of your equipment, but after a short wait your corpse does pop up at a nearby graveyard. Waiting in a nice safe place to be resurrected.

Now, dieing in the middle of Siren's Grotto or North Tower of Veeshan, that is something to be feared. No instant re-pop, no graveyard, no friendly nearby bind spots.

The naked run across Cobalt Scar and through Siren's Grotto is what nightmares are made of.

Actually not quite so easy in these zones, as they are buried within other hostile zones. Although a Necro would find it easier to get across Cobalt Scar than a Shadow Knight. However if neither could get a Druid or Wizzy to port them in in the first place it could be corpse poof time Smiley: smile.

Unless of course they had the Skyshrine key, then its a simple matter of a port into Wakening Land, except for Wuoshi. So maybe its a run through Kael, through Wakening Lands, through Skyshrine, across Cobalt Scar and if you died in Western Waste or NToV, through Siren's Grotto and then maybe cast summons corpse, Smiley: grin.

Its a bit like dieing in Vex Thal, only worse Smiley: grin

How about dying in a PoP plane, only to realize that you're bound at Temple of Veeshan entrance and you're the group's cleric.
