I LOVE Morden RaspFollow

#27 Mar 03 2004 at 1:24 PM Rating: Decent
Morden Rasp is a good server. But steer clear of a guild called Illuminique. Most of the people that make up the guild are good people, but the duo that run it, a husband and wife team have their heads in their asses. The wife especially seems to be some kind of EQ power control freak. I disbanded from them because of their no-nonsense **** like policies. Actually, her guild, he says its his but he cowared out of /send tells when I asked him about it. Felt bad though because my first friends on this server are all from that guild. Hands down the WORST eq experience Ive ever had and Im glad I found out what their really like before I devote myself to a real guild.

Side note, they up'd and left the same guild they started on a different server. Wonder how long those folks devoted to them before they were apparently abandoned.

Goofed around a bit there, pretty much done with it though now. It's usual for me to pick a character on a brand new server and get through the newbie armor quests with them, just for a distraction.

On MR I picked a High Elf Cleric and High Elf Mage to 2box and mess around with. Little did I know that the High Elf cleric's newbie armor is akin to doing the cleric epic.

Once I had the newbie armor done for them, a pair of Fine Cut, Diamond Inlaid Masks, and a pair of Fine Antique Rings and an Iksar Bersker Club for the cleric, I did a few hours in Paludal and dinged 24 (still amazed at the sick xp there). Wow, I felt twinked compared to the rest of the newbies!

Then it really got interesting - LDoNs with untwinked, unbuffed, un-KEI'd groups. Wow. Just...wow.

Few LDoN's and I had a few more levels. By then I was pretty much done with Morden Rasp - the population just isn't there and there are some serious concerns about the Uber Transfers vs. the Homegrown Noobs. In my opinion, the server will really go nowhere, but for those that tranferred, it's a farming wonderland...for now.

Haven't played there for a while, would be interested to see where the newbie population is at now. I'm betting there are lots of players like me who go through Paludal in like a day then head back to their old servers.

My most humble apologies to the Illuminique guild,

There was an incident involving a former member of Illuminique who has apparently done some embarressing and outright atrocious actions to one of its members. After speaking with *said* individual and hearing from the guild itself I have weighed my judgement and offer the deepest apologies for the incident. *Said* person no longer has access to the account nor the character, so future incidents should no longer be a problem for the guild. May Tunare shine favor on Illuminique.

the *real" account holder

Question: Did it feel good or bad? (expecting a long explanatory answer if any at all.....)

Well unfortunately I think folks missed the reason that SOE created the Morden Rasp server - they needed to offload some of the other servers, which is why they had transfers.

The Stromm server a/k/a the newbie server didn't allow transfers (although I it may now, and anyway it has been around long enough it probably no longer matters).

That being said, I too enjoyed the first days of Morden Rasp. It reminded me of the game when I first started 4+ years ago. Folks were actually buying banded armor again. :) The idea of a true newbie server with no transfers seems to be so popular that I think SOE should give some serious consideration to creating another one.

It might be interesting to have a server where all weapons and armor are NODROP, except for crafted stuff. It would mostly eliminate twinking, except through crafted goods - which would be a boon to tradeskillers. The economy wouldn't get so twisted by all the stuff that collects over the years. On the other hand you'd see a lot of people asking to loot stuff that was rotting.

Why would he feel bad?

Even if opposed to twinking he wasn't.

The items were achieved by superior knowledge and determination. The comment is merely that it was better equipment than those around him.

Nothing stops any sub level 10 with invis from getting the mask. Except knowledge of Droga and where to find the man with the book. That and the guts to wander in there.

If instead of trying to sneer at twinking you read the post you'd realise what was being said.

Your question would be "Does it feel good or bad to have better gear (that you have earned or quested by your own effort) than those around you."

My answer would be "neither" but I'll let Kozz give his own.

I love the server...
No one is ever in the zones I'm camping with friends. Well with the exception of PC that was a clusterf***. Other then that when I went to Lguk it was empty...Overthere 8 players...Heh maybe velk's will be empty =)

Giant king snakes are easy to find--spawn rate is not bugged, they are reasonably rare, but if you have patience you will find plenty. I killed 10-15 for my necro newb quests and got two skins over a period of two days--experienced the same drop rate on other servers doing these same quests.

Just don't sit outside of BB and expect to see any. Maybe 1 per day on that side of the zone...

Yes, with my Fine Antique Ring I wielded power unknown over all the level 1's as they cowered in the shadow of my uberness!

Actually, I had a lot of fun helping other players get their masks and telling them about how to do the PoK quests.

Is it so hard for you to stay close to the facts? asked a question to a single person. I did not ask what YOU or anyone else is thinking on twinking.

If you have something to say about it no one will hinder you starting a threat about "Cobra's thoughts about twinking". And belive me - it's no big deal to open a new thread, I do it all the time and even you will have the 60 sec. it takes ;-)

And besides - can you deliver a prove that my question "did it feel good or bad" was *sneering at twinking*?
