Getting PlatFollow

#1 Feb 12 2004 at 9:46 PM Rating: Decent
I am now a level 37 Beastlord and am wondering how to get enough plat to buy the "GOOD" stuff. I have been harvesting spider silk for the bazaar, but find it long and boring work. Just wondering how to make some good plat. Thanks.

In the upper 30's I hunted Hill Giants in Rathe. They should all be dark blue to you right now and I've seen them drop anywhere from 11gp to 45pp. Most of their weapons sell to NPC merchants for 4-6pp.

Should you get bored of that, do LDoN adventures. You can get some decent splits and amazing xp.

Forget about LDoN for cash the splits there have been nerf real bad. In 4 adv today I made 100p total. Before GoD on Tuesday I use to make 200p per adv.

Ok, sorry bout the misinformation there. I don't do LDoN much anymore so I didn't know about this.

You should ask where others get the "GOOD" stuff from. If someone tells you "from a mob conning red to my lvl 50 BL" I guess that stuff just isn't meant for you.

You were lucky. I have done lots of LDOn since the patch. And no noticeable differences in drop rates of coin, loot or otherwise.
Random means random. Sometimes you'll have good luck sometimes you'll have bad luck. Sometimes you'll have average luck.

Tons of places to make good money. LOY zones are pretty good.and you could do well in gunthak at your level. LDON is more about the fun factor than cash, loot, or exp.

LOL - Leiany has been bitten hard by the Morden Rasp bug! While I do agree with you on some level (lvl 15 Druid has no business in Elysian armor, ofr example) it does become increasingly difficult to group on most servers if you're a lvl 20 toon with newbie armor and weapons. A lot of people want the "good stuff," and I'm glad he's asking where to get plat as opposed to "what's the link for IGE?"

The hillies drop great plat. When I could solo them, I spent a decent amount of time there to earn enuf to complete my shopping list. Patience in the Bazaar will pay off also - don't jump the first time you see something, and try to talk the person down if they're not AFK.

If you have a DSL or cable modem, create a Bazaar mule and park it there when you're not playing your other toon(s)...that way you can be earning while you don't care about playing. You can deposit looted items in your shared bank and have the mule pick it up in the Bazaar bank and stand around in the trader stall. I do this even with my dial up for short periods of time and it has paid off as well. I have used my mule to buy items in the bazaar and then transfer to another toon in a far off zone so I don't have to hump all the way back from wherever I am, so it has a lot of uses.

Anyhow, Rathe Mountain Hillies are the best plat drops I know of at that level. If anyone knows better, I would love to know for my own selfish, plat-***** reasons.

You should be able to solo the Crystal Caverns pretty well at this level or with a small group. The Geonids are fairly heavily camped, but if you can hit it during an off period you should be able to make a good profit. The orc fort in the Eastern Wastes also have some nice drops.

Although my paladin is against the practice (for ethics reason), guard hunting can be very profitable if you are strong enough. The HHK guards are heavily camped, but I heard that some money can be made hunting the Freeport or coldain guards. I obviously can't confirm this.

One of these days I'll trying hunting the Neriak guards and see if this is worth the effort.

As a paladin I hunt the corrupt freeport militia. You get a few plat from looting them and 2 to 4 plat for turning in their helmets to the paladins or clerics in NFP. You will also become kos to militia in wfp and efp, and the general merchant population wont sell to you. But the finger wrigglers, bards, and temple mercnants will.
You can also hunt the paladins in Nfp for faction with the militia.
I wouldnt do either untill you get another level or two. The guards have a lot of hp's.
They are a steady sorce of income for Jonwin.

Since hillies and Ice giants are always camped there are places were a beastie could go Like Runney( the blackend alloy and blackened iron sell rather well to vendors) Plus the fine steel drops to work on smithing by smelting to ore at lvl 30 you will still get exp however becarefull of 2 spawns the Fungus Spore i think its the King and Lord Pickclaw... I waited tell i was lvl 44 an he was light blue still and he was easy with my retired beastie at 49... This will help your faction if your also evil.. Plus if your evil you still be KOS at the area right outside of Kiticor zout. The guard will leave you alone because there on differant factions... However to increase your monitary amount to kill the guards as well ( but wait tell lvl 40) however there are other places to farm loot... But the giants can be a major time sink due too it being crowded all the time...

I am constantly camping at the geos in CC often. they drop anywhere from about 4gp - 6PP at a time. but the big money is the gems they drop, some gems go for up to 200PP at a time, but in a good days time you can make from 1000pp - 3000pp off the geos with the gem selling also.

What and where is CC? Also, would a level 40 Druid do well here?

I made Decent plat in Netherbian lair.

Go into the Netherbian Drone/Warrior tunnel.

Keep all the Porous Mineral blocks, you can sell in bazaar for 5-10 pp each and the mobs drop up to about 4pp each.

As long as you can kill them at a high rate you can make some decent plat.

Ykesha is good loot and XP, you would do well in Gunthak.

I still think the best way to make money is camping the bazaar, buy low, sell high. I did this myself, and recommended this to a friend, he now has well over 100,000+ pp in inventory, and he has spent no time farming, just a little research and time shopping. Thats a lot fo Hill giants. You may need to farm a bit first get 2-3K together then start buying some cheap/popular items and resell for profit. The more you make, the more you have to invest it becomes exponential.
