A decision from GoDFollow

Well...since the patching thing began I was unable to log in to EQ. I cannot even get connected to the patching procedure - its just NADA as soon as i click my esktop icon.

So I took is as a decision from GoD not to bother about EQ for a while. to make up for it I yesterday the only rpg we still had lying around but never played: Icewind Dale II

Although it lacks the dynamic and tension of EQ I found it rather satisfying that once you saved the city the city was save and once you killed the bad guy the bad guy was dead

Think I stick to offline until the connection works for a change of pace ;-)

I, too, am suffering withdrawls. I moved and DSL hasn't been switched over. But I'm taking it as a chance to catch up on some real life work I need to do: namely moving.

Actually, I had a similar experience playing NWN after playing Eq for a while. It was nice to have rapid sense of change. I played a few different characters through the pre-packaged adventure and even played some custom made ones. Lots of fun. Like you say, when you kill the bad guy, he says dead, but when you finish the content, you are done. Replay value is limited.

After a few downloaded adventures, I began to realize it really didn't much matter if I leveled yet another warrior to 14 or 18 or 20 or whatever and got him nice armor. I began to think: crap I could have dinged my rogue at least once with all this time I just played, or I could have worked on my epic or done more tradeskills - and those things I really only have to do once. The benefits last until I stop playing.
