I played EQ for about a year and a half before i quit. I just recently started playing again and a lot has changed. I was wondering how exactly the shared bank slots work. Does it share them to your account? If so can you share no drop items? please explain i'm confused

No Drop items can't go in the shared bank. The shared bank is used to share tradable items and platinum with other characters on your account.

It's two bank slots added to your usual bank window. You can put items, bags of items, etc in there so long as none of it is No Drop or No Rent. You can put a Lore item in there and then loot another of the same Lore item, thus having one in your inventory and one in the bank. The shared bank is account-wide (be pretty useless otherwise, heh) with the idea being that the Devs would rather you twink your characters in relative safety than hassle the GMs with "I dropped my fungi tunic on the ground and when I logged in my alt it was gone!" petitions.

Under the shared bank slots is a shared bank platinum slot.

Further on Firiona Vie -where only one character per account is allowed- it has the advantage that if you decide to change your character (happens often at low levels) you can retrive with the new toon everything on plat and items that you had put into shared bank prior to deleting your old toon.

Watch out though. I dropped soem plat and a few items into the shared slot the other day for my lower lvl alt...and before I got on and handed it to him, my teenage son logged on and said, "Hey! look what dad left me!"

It wouldn't help to petition it. The EULA specifically states that only one person is authorized to use each account. And since the shared bank slot only works within the same account, he'd be openly admitting to breaking the EULA. I personally don't see a huge deal with sharing accounts, but I have a seperate account from my (now ex) fiancee so that we could both play at the same time, without killing each other over who's turn it was.

Instead of /petition I'd use /ground

Reading comprehension is teh oober.

Thank you for pointing out that it wouldn't help. The rest of us read the "lol" and thought he might have been serious. :)

On topic, it has been submitted previously that the shared slot was fairly un-recoverable in a crash. Is this still the case? I had seen the recommendation that nothing be left there as if you had to have toons re-loaded from a back-up, it would be lost.
