Hotkeys?Follow

#1 Jan 06 2004 at 2:50 AM Rating: Default
Ok, I havent been playing eq for to long and I dont know much about hot keys. For instance, a cleric is going to heal a group member e.g. say that dooala is the healer and she is going to heal brackar in the group... how does she say "healing bracnar, with the power of Tunare". Another thing is you know the hotkeys on the left side of your screen. And there is page 1, page 2, page 3, etc... Is there a hotkey to go from page 1 to page 2. I have alot more questions about hotkeys but I dont want to bother you guys to much. Is there a website that maybe explains hotkeys and what all you can do with them and how?

after I said "healing bracnar, with the power of Tunare" i meant to say how does she say that and cast the spell at the same exact time?

ok hotkey's are both fun and important.

for a basic healing hotkey <and you will need 3>

line 1:casting complete healing on %t stay alive and in range for 10 sec's or die
line 2:/cast 1 <if cheal is in your topmost spell slot>

%t will make it say the person you are targeted on so they know that you are casting on them.

make sure you have 1 for Cheal , 1 for pulse heal and one for regular heals so people know which one your dumping on them.

i tend to have about 4-5 spell hotkeys on my cleric with sit / stand also important untill you get a mount. Porlly the most important is a HUGE big and bold one for OOM or LOM i.e.

line 1: Oh my the HEALER seem to be LOM stop pulling or your going to die!
line 2: /em sits his butt firmly on the floor and glares meaningfully at the %t <target puller>

Feel free to be inventive with your hotkey's i always feel a little more secure if my cleric has a fun hotkey.

One thing Tarv left out is how to "make" a hotkey using the /ho command.

For example... Lets say you want to make a Complete Heal hotkey.

Step 1 Type /ho CH
This will make an actual button that says CH that you can put in your bank of hotkeys on the left side of the screen.

Step 2 Right click the new hotkey and open up the command box

Step 3 type the commands (mine goes this way)
line 1 /cast 6 (6 being the gem slot for my CH spell)
line 2 /g Casting COMPLETE HEAL on %t
line 3 /e is casting CH on %t

I put line 3 in there for some raid encounters and such with more than one group so the cleric in the other group can see an emote and knows when I am casting CH.

You can put a line 4 with the raid channel.

As far as your question about how to switch quickly between the 1-10 banks fo hotkeys.

CTRL 1 is the 1st page and CTRL 2 CTRL 3 etc up to CTRL 10

For example I have my regular stuff on the 1st page for CH and HoT and fast heals with hotkeys. Plus I click and drag the spell slot for stuns and nukes that dont require group messages.

On page 2 I have other stuff like friens list and guild list etc... I can quickly hit CTRL 2 and then hit 3 and get my guild list for players online. But thats different for each player.

Same thing goes for my tank... slot 9 is always my Incoming message...

Example
/ho INC
right click hotkey
line 1 /g Incoming %t

It doesnt just apply to spell messages but assist keys, incoming keys, evac messages, LoM messages and /ooc selling Virtue and Temp in PoK :)

I thought that this was SHIFT 1 to SHIFT 10, etc.? At least that's the default on my computer, I believe.

In any case, another way to make hotbuttons is to use the Actions window that is usually defaulted to the lower right hand corner. This is the window with 4 tabs, with the Sit and Stand actions, and tabs for Skills, Combat, Socials, etc. I believe (this is all from memory right now) it is the Socials tab, the rightmost one, that you want. Go to an empty slot--you might have to go to the second page--and right-click on it. This will bring up the hotbutton edit window, the same as using the /ho command, except it won't have a title yet. You can then edit it the same way as others have said, and when you hit accept it is still over in that menu. To move it over to your hotbutton pad you hold down left-click on it until a button appears on your cursor, which you can then put whereever you like.

Game on,

I have a question about Hot keys. I once grouped with a cleric who had in his CH message a link to the spell scroll. Can anybody tell me how he did that?

My druid carries a crucible of escape in the secondary slot. I would like to make a hot key to click on that. Is it possible?

Yes.

To make a link to an item you are wearing, left click and hold on that item until it "Pops out". This is the same as making a hotkey for the spell gems.

Once you have this hotkey on your cursor, drop it into whatever slot you want. Everytime you hit the number of that hotkey, it'll be like right-clicking the item. These items cannot be inside containers.

If you want to make a hotkey for something you don't wear (i.e. potions) just have them sitting in a slot where you'd normally put a bag, and make that slot into a hotkey (note: the hotkey is mapped to the slot, not the item. If you switch another item into that slot, the hotkey will target the new item).
